Is it just me or is everyone in Connecticut on their way to being famous? Asian Persuasion and the Anti-Couric are getting more publicity than Jon Gosselin thanks to WNPR and Mr. McEnroe. M. Jodi finally officially handed over the keys to that South Windsor tract of land so before you know it, every Tom, Dick, & Harry from that ‘burb will be working at the new studio. Add in the “Deal or No Deal” production down in Waterford, and I’m starting to think I’m the only one not getting famous. Lucky for me, the answer to every attention hog’s prayers is coming to Hartford.
On Saturday, November 7, the first ever New England Film and TV Expo will descend upon the Bushnell in Hartford. The purpose of this event is to bring together various companies and people in the New England area for one big networking pow-wow. It’s all about connections in the film industry, after all, and this is the place to make them!
Creator Luz Ramos has said, “My hope is that this event will legitimize and bring to light the incredible work and the wonderful efforts that are happening within the state in the areas of film and TV production. That it serves as a tool for those attending to promote and enhance their careers and projects.” And this young lady knows what she’s talking about because she was just in The Invention of Lying with Ricky Gervais, who might be the most brilliant comedian of our time. (If you haven’t already seen the UK version of “The Office” then you’re just hopeless.)
Some of the guest speakers will be representatives from Actors Technique (they teach acting classes, naturally), The Johnson Agency (the largest talent agency in CT), LDI Casting (Rhode Island’s only casting agency) and Palace Production Center (a giant production studio…they make movies!)
This CuT reporter is attending and will deliver a full report on the event’s happenings and goings on because we got a press pass. That’s right, first we get on Colin’s (first name basis) show on NPR and now we’re getting press passes. Big time!
This event runs form 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on November 7, and you can get your tickets at The Bushnell’s website.
GOOD LUCK AGAIN………….ooops
Also attending this Expo will be reps from the New York Film Academy, one of THE best film schools in the world. Check it out!!
