I thought Dave Matthews had given up on music and was just guest-starring as a “half-wit” on House or singing terrible duets with tiny Kenny Chesney, but apparently good ole DMB is planning another assault on Hartford.
They’ve played here every summer since 1995, including the performance pictured above in 2009. This year, the Dave Matthews Band opens its summer tour with a pair of shows in Hartford.
The group plays May 28-29 at Comcast Theatre, with opening act Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. Finally, we get a great opener, and a timely one — Jones et. al. release a new album in May.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Feb. 26, but an online ticket request period begins here this Thursday, Jan. 28, and continues through Monday, Feb. 8. Prices in Hartford are $75 for reserved seats and for the GA pit, and $40.50 for the lawn.
Don’t expect to see me there, folks. I gave up on DMB sometime in the late 1990s after getting tear-gassed while walking across the parking lot. But if you go, feel free to send us whatever pictures you capture on your iPhones for our new series on modern, urban warfare.
