County: New Haven
Size: 16.5 square miles
History: Apparently back in 1701 Naugatuck was a rural farming town. But, in the words of Wikipedia, it transformed into a “hardscrabble mill-town” during that little thing we call the Industrial Revolution. Oddly, rubber was the town’s chief product which makes sense in my mind because whenever I hear the name “Naugatuck” I think of tires for some reason.
