All About: Stafford

Population: 11,307

County: Tolland

Size: 58 sq mi

History: To the surprise of no one, Stafford began as an agricultural community and the population exploded with advent of water power from near by tributaries. Nothing gets a population going like water power! It was founded in 1719. Fascinating.

Something Weird: Guess who made cannon balls for the Union (aka – The Good Guys) during the Civil War? If you guessed Stafford, you would be correct! Also, Stafford has it’s own race track, appropriately named “Stafford Motor Speedway” which attracts all sorts of spectators to the area. Some are unsavory. Since Anti- Couric loves all things Redneck, expect to see her there this summer!
